For the first time ever, Apple becomes top largest mobile phone vendor, capturing a record 34% market share.
In the latest report of research firm Strategy Analytic, it is estimated that Apple shipped 17.7 million mobiles in the US market in the fourth quarter of 2012, and making the tech giant the No. 1 mobile phone vendor by volume.
Including smart phones and feature mobile phones, Apple’s share of the US mobile phone market jumped from 26% to 34% whereas Samsung’s grow from 31.8% to 32.6%, said by research firm.
This hard won victory of Apple’s is not expected for long period, as since 2008, Samsung had been the No. 1 mobile vendor in the US market, and surely it will recapture the title by launching the advanced new model rumored as the Galaxy S4.
According to the Mawston report, “Apple’s success has been driven by its popular ecosystem of iPhones and Apps stores and extensive marketing around the new iPhone 5 model”.
Additionally report pointed that, US mobile phone shipments fell 11% from 186.8 million units in 2011 and 166.9 million in 2012, due to economic uncertainty and tighter carrier upgrade policies.
