European Availability News: More Pixels for Dell’s Linux Ultrabook

At the end of the November 2012, a report is generated on Dell’s Ubuntu- powered XPS-13 Developer Edition, when laptop was release in which comments were generally positive. Instead one exciting comment which seemed to dominant i.e. the XPS-13’s 1366X768 resolution, which is totally insufficient for the laptop’s intended audience and use case.

In the latest posting of Dell Community site and to Dell Web Vertical Director Barton George’s blog, the new announcement is that as of today the XPS-13 Developer Edition is well equipped with a 1080p screen, which means 1920X1080p screen.

The panel type is not specify in the laptop’s US Dell Storage Page, still it does have feature of almost a 180 degree viewing angle and a brightness of 350nits which makes it an IPS panel.

The unchanged specifications are 8GB RAM, a low voltage Ivy Bridge i7-3537U CPU and a 256GB SATA II SSD. Another few addition includes cloud oriented software that is helpful to make it ease the task of setting up complex development environment and is also come preloaded with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. One of the most fiddly bits code for the cypress track pad has even made available in upstream.

The cost of the XPS-13 Developer Edition is around $1549.99 and there is no hardware customization option is available.

Another bit of news is that exclusively it has been no longer available in Dell’s US store. According to the blog post of Barton’s George, laptops are available within a week in number of European countries and after that in several more EMEA countries.
